Q: How do I create a username so I can log in?

A: To create a username for zumo connect, please visit http://my.garmin.com. If you already have a myGarmin account, you can use it to log into zumo connect.

Q: Why should I create a username?

A: Without a username you can download rides to your zumo, but you can not upload and share any of your rides. By logging into zumo connect, you can also customize what kinds of Activities you would like to see or what unit of measurement you prefer.

Q: How do I download rides to my zumo?

  1. Connect the USB cable to your zumo and computer.
  2. If you haven’t already downloaded the Web Plugin, click here for directions.
  3. Once you connect the zumo to your computer, search for a ride at zumo connect to send to your zumo. Click the "Save This Ride" button to send the ride to your zumo.
  4. Once the file transfer to your zumo is complete, you can disconnect your zumo from the computer and hit the road.

Q: How do I download the Web Plugin?

A: To download the Web Plugin, click the "Install" link in the GPS Device box on the left of your screen. Next, click the "Download" link. Once the download has begun, please exit the browser window. Follow the prompts in the installer to complete the installation. After the installer finishes, reopen the browser and return to http://connect.garmin.com/zumo.

Q: I connected my GPS device and now it’s prompting me to download a Web Plugin. Is this safe?

A: Yes, the file you are downloading is safe. This file lets you upload or download rides from your zumo. To download it, follow the prompts on your screen.

Q: Where will I find the rides on my zumo?

A: Next time you start your zumo, you will be prompted to import the ride. Once the ride is imported, you can see it by selecting "Where to?" then "Routes". All rides you download from zumo connect will be stored in "Routes". Any Points of Interest (POIs) you downloaded will be found in "Extras".

Q: Where did the photos that show up on my ride details page come from?

A: The "Flickr Photos" component searches the photo-sharing site called Flickr for photos that are geotagged in the area around where the ride was performed. The photos are filtered by a certain number of selected tags to get the most relevant results. If there are inappropriate photos showing up, please contact us.

Q: Are the rides I upload available for everyone to see?

A: By default, all rides you upload are shared with others. If you would like to change this setting and make your rides private, click on the "Preferences" link at the top right of the screen then select the appropriate option under the Privacy heading.

Q: Is there a limit to how many rides I can upload or download?

A: No, there is no limit to how many rides you can upload or download. At times, your upload may be placed in a queue if it is very large or if there are a large number of people uploading at the same time.

Q: What’s the difference between uploading and downloading a ride?

A: When you "upload" a ride, you move it from your zumo to the zumo connect website. When you "download" a ride, you move it from the zumo connect website to your zumo. After you "download" a ride, it’s on your device and you can follow the route.

Q: What is the "Map Player"?

A: The "Map Player" allows you to play the activity using Google maps. You can select Map, Satellite or a Hybrid view. There is a wealth of other information on the Map Player including total distance, speed, and elevation.

Q: Do I have to enter the distance, time, etc. for my ride?

A: No, when you connect your zumo to your computer and click "Share My Rides" in zumo connect, this information is automatically uploaded.

Q: What’s the difference between "My Rides" and "Shared Rides"?

A: "My Rides" are rides YOU have uploaded to zumo connect. "Shared Rides" are rides other people have uploaded to share at zumo connect.

Q: What do the "Link Here" buttons do?

A: The "Link Here" buttons provide a link to the page you are on. Use these links in emails or instant messages to send your friends to the same page. Right click on the "Link Here" button then select "Copy Shortcut". You can then Paste this link in an email or instant message window.
