Index Smart Scale

Before you Begin

  • If you plan to use your Garmin IndexTM smart scale on carpet, press one of the four risers onto each foot of the scale to ensure the most accurate weight and body composition measurements.
  • On the underside of the scale, slide the units selector switch to your preferred unit of measure.
  • You can invite up to 15 other people to use your scale by sending invitations from your Garmin Connect account. Each invitee must also have a Garmin Connect account. Once a user accepts the invitation, that person can start using the scale.

Install Batteries

Remove the battery cover of your Garmin Index smart scale and insert 4AA batteries. With the batteries in place, the scale will display a icon on the screen, and the icons will blink.

Download and Install

On your smartphone, download and install the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile.

Add Device

Open Garmin Connect Mobile to add your scale and complete the setup process. If this is the first device you have paired with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, follow the on-screen instructions. If you have already paired another device with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, add your scale by following the steps below.

iOS: On the tab bar at the bottom of the screen, select   > Garmin Devices > and follow the on-screen instructions.

Android: At the top of the screen, select   > Garmin Devices > and follow the on-screen instructions.

Connect Router

Press the WPS button and/or enable WPS on your Internet router to connect the router to your scale. To learn how to use the WPS feature on your router, please refer to your router's documentation.

Check Status

If your scale has successfully connected to your router, you should see a solid icon on the scale's display. You will also see a icon on the far right side of the scale's display until you link your scale to your Garmin ConnectTM account.

Set Up

Once the router is connected to your scale, you'll need to link your Garmin Connect account to your scale.

To set up your Index Smart Scale on a computer, you will need an ANTTM Stick. If you do not have an ANT Stick, you can set up your device using an alternate setup process (Mobile or WPS), or you can purchase an ANT Stick.

Download and Install

On your computer, download the latest version of Garmin ExpressTM. When the download is finished, click the file to install Garmin Express on your computer.

Your system does not support Garmin Express.

Plug In the ANT Stick

With the Garmin Express application open, plug the ANT Stick into your computer’s USB port. To set up your Index Smart Scale TM on a computer, you will need an ANTTM Stick. If you do not have an ANT Stick, you can set up your device using a smartphone, or you can purchase an ANT Stick.

Select to add a device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find my scale’s serial number to enter on Garmin ConnectTM?

To find your scale's serial number, look at the label on the underside of the scale. You will see a set of 9 characters followed by a set of 5 characters. The serial number of your scale is the entire 14-character set.

How can I change my Wi-Fi® connection?

You can return your device to setup mode and change your connection method at any time. On the underside of the scale, press Reset.

The scale will display a icon on the screen, and the icons will blink. The scale is now ready to set up.

NOTE: Returning the device to setup mode does not delete any user information from the device.
