Get the App

On your smartphone, download and install the latest version of Garmin Connect MobileTM.

You will need to sign in or create an account. Once you are signed in, follow the on-screen instructions to add your vívoactive HR®.

Power On

Power on your device by holding down the left button for one second. Follow the device’s on-screen instructions to pair it with your smartphone. You will select your language and then tap the welcome message to pair your mobile device.

Plug In

Connect the charging cable to your device and plug it into your computer’s USB port. Your vívoactive HR® will power on.

  • Select Language
  • Answer 'No' to 'Pair Mobile Device?'
  • Answer the user information questions

Download and Install

Make sure your computer meets the Garmin ExpressTM System Requirements.

On your computer, download the latest version of Garmin Express. When the download is finished, click the file to install it on your computer.

Your system does not support Garmin Express.

Garmin Express requires Windows or Mac.

To download Garmin Express, please use your browser on the desktop.

The tablet or mobile device you're using does not support Garmin Express. Please use a different computer.

Download Legacy Version

Garmin Express is not compatible with your operating system.

Add Device

Open Garmin Express. Select to add a device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I didn't pair with my smartphone during initial setup?

If you did not pair your vívoactive HR with your smartphone during the initial setup, press and hold the right button on the vívoactive HR, and select Settings > Bluetooth.

How can I reset my device?

If the device stops responding, you may need to reset it. This does not erase any of your data or settings.

Press and hold the left button for 10 seconds. The device will turn off. Then hold the button for one second to turn it back on.

How can I restore all default settings?

You can restore all device settings to factory default values. This deletes all user-entered information and activity history.
  1. Press and hold the right button to view the menu.
  2. Select Settings > System > Restore Defaults > Yes.

How can I update my device software using Garmin Connect Mobile?

To update your device software, your vívoactive HR needs to be set up and paired with Garmin Connect Mobile.

  1. Verify that the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile is installed on your smartphone.
  2. With your device nearby (about 10ft.), open Garmin Connect Mobile. If an update is available for your device it will automatically be installed when it syncs.

How can I download Connect IQTM features?

Before you can download Connect IQ features from the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app, you must pair your device with your smartphone.
  1. From the menu in the Garmin Connect Mobile app, select Connect IQ Store.
  2. If necessary, select your device.
  3. Select a Connect IQ feature.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What if I am already using Garmin Connect Mobile and want to add my vívoactive HR?

If you have already paired another device with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, add your device by following the steps below.

iOS: On the tab bar at the bottom of the screen, select   > Garmin Devices > and follow the on-screen instructions.

Android & Windows Phone: At the top of the screen, select   > Garmin Devices > and follow the on-screen instructions.
