Garmin Connect gathers anonymously contributed route data to create a model of where the Garmin Connect community is most active. This data is used to build popularity heatmaps to help you find the most used routes, and to generate the most popular route when you need help creating new courses.
Popularity heatmaps are available on some of our map features. They are overlaid on the map, so you can easily see which paths, roads, sidewalks or trails are used the most.
When you want to create a new course near you, or when you're traveling and want to plan a workout, you can use this same data to automatically create a full or partial course in frequently used areas.
